Saturday, November 25, 2006 (Patna):In a first for any government in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presented his government's report card, a year after coming to power.

Key decisions taken by the government in the last one-year were prominent, but glaring in its absence was the performance of his Ministers.

Nitish chose the occasion to lash out at Union Railway Minister Lalu Yadav's RJD.

"The union ministers of RJD in Patna only criticise my government. Sometimes that's okay if it is in party's interest, but I always say that we want to make Bihar a progressive state with the help of the Central government," said Nitish.

Eye on polls

The day also saw the opposition RJD bringing out its own report card on the Nitish government. There were no surprises there, since they promptly failed the government in all subjects.

Then it was the turn of Lalu Yadav to take pot shots at Nitish for bringing out a report card of his government's performance.

This advertisement shows how Nitish is treating Sushil Modi and to become a minister Sushil Modi can even touch Nitish's feet. This picture shows that Sushil Modi is beneath Nitish's feet, it shows the status of BJP," said Lalu Yadav.

In the past year, the Chief Minister has made several announcements but change on the ground is still not visible.

And law and order, one of the main electoral issues that led to the change of guard in Bihar, is still a major concern.
