Man confesses of e-mail threat to PM, Police

Sunday, October 29, 2006 (Thiruvananthapuram):The man arrested for sending a threatening e-mail about the Prime Minister has reportedly confessed to the offence.

Akbar Raj, 27, a computer hardware instructor of Allapuzha, threatened to attack Singh when he visits Kerala on October 31, but there is no change in Singh's visit.

He was arrested on Saturday night. Akbar has been working in Kochi for several years.

The accused will be paraded before the staff of the cyber cafe from where he sent the e-mail later in the day.

According to reports, Akbar sent the threat after separating from his girlfriend.

Akbar has been charged under the IPC for criminal intimidation of Prime Minister and President of India and sedition.

He may also be charged for an Internet crime. Following the incident, the Kerala government has, actually, decided to enact a law to monitor Internet cafes.

Police also released the sketch of a second man who is believed to have sent a separate e-mail threat to the Prime Minister from Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.
