New Delhi: Two “drug dealers” of Nigerian nationality, interrogated by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell in connection with the fateful Thursday night party at 7-Safdarjung Road, admitted on June 4,2006 that they supplied “five grams of pure cocaine” to Sahil Zaroo.

In return, they confessed to having taken Rs 12,500. Identified as Abdullah and David, police said both live in South Delhi’s Munirka area and are well known in the Capital’s narcotics circles. The two were arrested early on Sunday morning from Munirka, police said.

According to the police, David sourced the drugs from Mumbai and Abdullah handed it over to Sahil Zaroo, who was brought to Delhi today on an eight-day remand.

Special Cell officials said Thursday night was not the first time when Zaroo bought drugs from Abdullah — the 21-year-old from Srinagar had got drugs worth Rs 12,000 from the Nigerian national a little over a week ago.

Both Abdullah and David denied that there was any adulteration in the drug they supplied to Zaroo on Thursday, police said — the duo claimed it was “absolutely pure’’.

According to senior officers, Abdullah told the police that Sahil called him late on Thursday night, asking for five grams of ‘‘high quality dope’’. After settling the rates, Sahil and Abdullah reportedly met at the upmarket Vasant Vihar, where Abdullah handed over the “dope”. Karan Ahuja and Rahul Malhotra, who were also at the party and surrendered to Delhi Police on Friday night, were with Zaroo when he took the delivery from Abdullah.

Officials said Abdullah and David’s claim — that it was “high quality cocaine” — can be verified only after the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory submits its report of the test. A small quantity of the drug in a plastic pouch was found when Mahajan and his aide Bibek Maitra, who died, were admitted to Apollo hospital in the wee hours of Friday. According to police, Abdullah has been in the drug trade ever since he landed in India about a year back.

With interrogation at the Special Cell’s Lodhi Road office now complete, both have been handed over to the New Delhi district police. They would be arrested under the FIR lodged by the police as per NDPS Act in the Rahul Mahajan case, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police is also questioning about half-a-dozen other Nigerian nationals who are suspected to be in the drug trade. Delhi Police’s Narcotics Cell also arrested another Nigerian drug-peddler on June 4, Michael, with 40 grams of cocaine. DCP A S Cheema said Michael, too, lived in South Delhi’s upmarket Vasant Vihar area.
